ZAKU 2.0's TUNDRA PATROL by ChihayaCake ZAKU 2.0's TUNDRA PATROL by ChihayaCake
Sorry for the subpar pictures, I forgot my SD card at home and was only able to take two shots D;<

Also sorry it isn't very actiony, I plan on using this as an info pic for my Zaku's, since they don't have one in my gallery..

The MS-06 Zaku II is the basic all around grunt unit of the Duchy of Zeon, it's the second generation version of one of the very first mass production combat mobile suits, the Zaku I. It's equipped with a giant "machine gun" that basically fires what is equivalent to tank shells at rapid fire, a giant metal axe that has a blade that can heat up to cut through armor, and optionally, a "bazooka" and rocket packs on the legs. They were created as terror weapons (initally the Federation did not have Mobile Suits of their own, leading to the creation of the mobile suit know as RX-78 Gundam Mk. I, or Gundam as everyone calls it and as the series is named) designed for combat in zero gravity and also for Colony Assaults (In the Gundam universe, there are floating colonies in space, which..pretty much in every series are hotly contested/blown up/gassed/dropped onto earth/stolen by crazy ass pirates/attacked by killer AI buzzsaws/assaulted in wars....yeah living on the sucks..).

Anyways, they're heavily armored, reliable (until the feds invented laser weapons anyway..), easy to pilot and they practically last forever considering the fact that they keep popping up in the series even centuries into the future.

And they look coooool :D they're walking tanks after all!

More info here:

In case you're wondering what became of the Zaku in the future (IT BECAME TWICE AS AWESOME):

Cool picture and excellent use of force prospective with the background. And as for the foreground that fallen tree is a twig from an evergreen? And did you use motor oil to simulate mud on their feet?

As I compare my (relatively green) work to yours, I feel awestruck (though I feel that way half the time I browse a website dedicated to galleries on Gunpla models). The decals and added color scheme details are wonderful, and what's most shameful in comparison is the "weathering attempt" I did to my 1/144 Kapool and Zaku II when compared to your attempt. I was told by someone it wasn't half bad, but I'd have a hell of a time believing it after seeing your work here.

Given the resolution of the photo here, your skills in centering the camera to the prime interests of the photo is fantastic. The clarity and color of the photo helps make mother nature's diorama here more convincing as the location implied in your title, which in turn (as is the case with your Acguy pics) make the Zakus more like patrolling MSs and less like MG Gunpla... Even if the surroundings blatantly look like it could be someone's backyard in the summer. :)

Have you ever thought of trying some obscure NG 1/144 (or 1/100)-scaled Gunpla?
ChihayaCake Featured By Owner Apr 2, 2011  Professional General Artist
Awww you beat yourself up too much D; I started out doing 1/144's in my back yard ;3; GAH, I can't even STAND to look at them! Dx With their horrible weathering, BLAH.

But thank you :3 the area in question is a secluded strip of land out in some reserve near was next to a little swamp actually, I decided to shoot there cause the little plant thingers looked like little trees, and they stretched out pretty far, so I figured it would look like a big grassy tundra.

Most of my pictures are taken out in remote places in the wilderness o3o

And I've thought about it, but I've decided to stick to MG's, cause they look the best under a camera macro, because of their little details :3
